Greyhound on the Test
The Greyhound on the Test is an alluring retreat, and the Hampshire Wedding Club is delighted to host our couples and suppliers breakfasts here with this gorgeous pub, inn, and venue.
Beautifully nestled in the heart of The Test Valley. Steeped in history, Stockbridge is a reminder of a bygone era. With wonderful independent boutiques and galleries, a trip to Stockbridge is a lovely experience. The jewel in the High Street crown is easily “The Greyhound on The Test”. A former 15th Century coaching inn on the banks of this world famous fly-fishing river. GH on the test are the proud winners of Michelin Pub of the Year 2014 amongst it’s many awards and accolades.
The Greyhound was set up in 2013 by Lucy Townsend who, starting off as a pastry chef, cut her teeth under Marco Pierre White and at the Hotel du Vin group.
The River Test plays host to some of the best trout fishing in the world – and the Greyhound has a private riverbank at the end of its garden. A great asset. As well as the fishing and hunting, you’re a stone’s through from a number of decent walks.
The idyllic English riverside garden of the pub is a perfect location for a summer wedding. There is space for a stretch tent holding up to 110, once adorned with flowers, lights and candles you and your guests are in for a sublime treat under the stars by the river.
We had our wedding reception at The Greyhound, and then stayed there for our one year wedding anniversary; both events were exceptional! Each time the environment was friendly, relaxed and so helpful. The quality of the food was a talking point for wedding guests for weeks after the event. As well as the lovely pub itself you have beautiful Stockbridge and the Test right on your doorstep. My husband and I have decided to make a visit to The Greyhound our anniversary tradition – can’t wait for anniversary two!
