Lauren of LAHU wedding photography
Hi I’m Lauren! Tasha at HWC calls me feisty pants. I love all things positive and uplifting as well as curly wurlys and marmite (but not together). I also like My Favourite Murder Podcast. I was once attacked by an elephant and have constantly itchy feet for globetrotting. I’m smart but scatty, professional but warm and most of all I freakin’ love what I do!
My business was born in India when I fell in love with photographing people, moments, expressions and interactions that may otherwise go unseen. I fell into weddings because my personality suits them well and after my first I was hooked! My approach is fine art/documentary in style but I’m totally happy to stand on a chair and orchestrate some fun group photos too! My portraits are un-staged and organic, as they should be. A good wedding photographer tells the story of your day as it naturally unfolds.
Tell us what makes your business special.
The same thing that makes all of our businesses so special; Me!
I don’t say that to sound arrogant but to show that each and every one of us is unique and we will find a unique connection with our perfect couples. There is no photographer that is perfect for every couple. It’s all about finding the one that you connect with the best as a couple.
When I get an enquiry I will always set up an in person meeting so we can get to know each other and I will always recommend to my couples that they meet with a few of their favourite photographers to see what kind of rapport they have with them when spending time together. So I suppose what’s special about me is that I put what is right for my clients ahead of anything else. It’s more important to me that they find the right photographer for them than that they book with me.
When my couples decide to go ahead and book with me, I always include a free engagement session so we can hang out a bit and get to know each other better before the big day. They can get used to the camera and I can learn their quirks and get a feel for how they interact. This means that we get more comfortable, natural looking images on the day because they feel so much more at ease with me. I prize my relationship with my couples over everything else. I’m always open to a get together before the day if they have any worries or need advice of any kind. This just helps the relationship grow. I’ve been invited to hen parties and board games nights by my couples and this is all because, we connect on a level of friendship not just as client and vendor.
Why do your customers fall in love with you?
Please see above 😀
Also, I’m incessantly helpful and annoyingly optimistic and people seem to enjoy that.
“From the first moment we met Lauren we knew she was the photographer for us. She was warm, friendly, and put us completely at ease. She now feels like an old friend. She explained everything we needed to know, the prices, everything. She gauged us just right, taking our quirky nature in her stride and capturing the silliness in our relationship. The pictures are absolutely stunning. She was also so helpful in suggesting other vendors and other ideas to us and we loved the fact that an engagement shoot was included so that we could all get to know one another and feel completely at ease on the day. You will not regret choosing Lauren. She is talented, lovely, and did a phenomenal job on our wedding day. Thank you again Lauren!”Tiff and Graham at Rownhams House, Romsey

“Lauren is just the best photographer we could have asked for to capture the magic of our special day. From the day we first met through to the pre wedding shoot and on the wedding day itself she made us feel completely at ease. Lauren is so down to earth and her work speaks for itself. The photographs she took captured every moment and she was so accommodating with the pictures we knew we wanted. If you want a brilliant photographer who will not disappoint look no further.”Rob and Rebecca at the Elvetham Hotel, Hartley Wintney
